How do I heat it, and how long do I keep it on?
In the microwave — 30 seconds is enough. Keep it on for 15 to 20 minutes. The warmth should stay gentle: if the skin feels hot, take it off.
Without a microwave, on a train or a plane, is it still useful?
Yes: used cold, it's a night mask that blocks out all the light, with an adjustable strap and soft fabric on the eyelids. The warmth, though, needs a trip through the microwave.
I've just had eye surgery — can I use it?
No. No use after eye surgery, or on irritated eyes. It's a comfort item, not a medical device: if discomfort persists, see an ophthalmologist.
Does it wash?
The inner pouch comes out and the fabric part is washed by hand. Nothing goes in the machine. It contains clay beads and lavender — the scent is noticeable when heated.
